Harvey Dent, also known as Two-Face, is a tragic villain from the Batman mythos, best known from *Batman: The Animated Series*.
Originally Gotham City's charismatic District Attorney and a close ally to Batman and Commissioner Gordon, Dent was a beacon of hope against the city's rampant crime. His unwavering dedication to justice earned him the moniker "Apollo" but also made him a target for Gotham's criminal underworld.
During a trial involving mob boss Rupert Thorne, Thorne arranged for Sal Maroni to throw acid in Dent's face. This horribly scarred half of Dent's face, fracturing his psyche. Driven mad by the disfigurement and feeling betrayed by the system he once believed in, Dent adopted the persona of Two-Face.
Two-Face's actions are governed by a double-headed coin, one side scarred like his face. The flip of the coin dictates whether he will commit a crime or show mercy, making him a unpredictable and dangerous foe for Batman. While versions of Two-Face appear in the comic books dating back to 1942, the Batman TAS version is often considered to be the definitive version of the character.
